This International Women’s Day, the launch of the breast cancer knowledge summaries (BCKSs), developed as a tool to help policy makers identify and prioritise resource appropriate interventions across the continuum of care, took place. Designed to assist cancer planners in engaging multiple stakeholders in the development of comprehensive breast cancer programmes, the BCKSs create a common platform for discussion on the most effectively respond to the national breast cancer burden.
Compiled and edited by Breast Cancer Initiative 2.5, the BCKSs draw on current evidence and best-practice, developed by experts from WHO PAHO, the Breast Health Global Initiative and UICC. Each summary focuses on a different element of planning, prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care and can be used as standalone Summary to check and challenge current activities or collectively as a series to design a new comprehensive strategy.
