In an effort to support innovative, impactful research that addresses key scientific issues in global cancer control, The Center for Global Health (CGH) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) will convene the 10th Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research (ASGCR) as a virtual satellite meeting to the 13th annual conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH). The Symposium will take place Wednesday, March 23 – Thursday, March 24, 2022, in partnership with CUGH, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, University Teaching Hospital, Ministry of Health, Republic of Zambia, Partners in Hope, Lilongwe, Malawi, Fundación Instituto Leloir-CONICET, Buenos Aires, Argentina, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
This year's ASGCR will also include a pre-conference Early Career Investigator Day on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
The theme for the 10th Annual Symposium is:
New Models for Global Cancer Research, Training, and Control
Paradigms that guide biomedical research emphasize a systematic approach from discovery, translation and subsequent implementation of evidence for the benefit of public health. Recent reports from global cancer researchers have highlighted the need to revise these paradigms using a systems approach so that patient and community needs, health systems structures, research priorities, and workforce capacity can be marshalled to adequately address cancer control needs. The sessions in this Symposium will challenge existing models and explore emerging models of cancer research, highlight the need for more research designed to address practical solutions to cancer control challenges, and discuss creative ways of evidence synthesis and dissemination.
Registration is free of charge.
