Increased survival and improved quality of life – Swedish national cancer strategy 2.0

15 May 2026

Sweden has launched an updated national cancer strategy (Cancer Strategy 2.0), setting out priorities to reduce cancer risk, improve survival, and enhance quality of life over the next 10–15 years. The strategy focuses on prevention, early detection, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care, while emphasizing research, innovation, and stronger collaboration across sectors. It also expands its scope to include children and young adults. Building on the 2009 strategy, it aims to align efforts across stakeholders and ensure Sweden remains a leader in cancer care.

The plan is available (in Swedish) on the ICCP portal here.
