A new research article, Analysis and recommendations to improve national cancer control plans and policies informed by a 20‑country analysis, is now available online. The study reviews national cancer control plans (NCCPs) from 20 countries, analysing over 100 policy documents to assess strengths, gaps, and implementation challenges across prevention, early detection, care, treatment, and quality‑of‑life pillars. Findings reveal wide variation in the clarity and measurability of policy objectives, limited budgeting information in many plans, and inconsistent prioritisation of early detection and treatment pathways. The analysis highlights strong commitments to quality‑of‑life and palliative care, as well as the importance of research and innovation across the cancer care continuum. The authors propose recommendations to improve NCCPs, including strengthening measurable targets, ensuring adequate funding, advancing equity, enhancing data systems, and fostering collaboration across countries.
