The Yukon First Nations have launched the Yukon First Nations Cancer Strategy, the first cancer care strategy developed specifically for the Yukon. The strategy reflects a collective, consensus‑driven effort by Yukon First Nations to strengthen the cancer care pathway, grounded in years of engagement with health and social service leaders, Elders, and First Nations citizens with lived experience of cancer. The strategy places Yukon First Nations voices at the forefront of decision‑making and incorporates Indigenous ways of knowing, doing and being alongside western approaches to care. It provides a shared framework to guide partners in delivering culturally appropriate, high‑quality cancer services and is intended to serve as a foundation for future cancer strategies and health plans in this Canadian territory.
The plan is available on the ICCP portal here.
