African Region (AFR)
The NCCN Harmonized Guidelines™ address unique regional needs and resources strongly influenced by the expertise and experience of regional experts. They represent pragmatic approaches that provide effective multimodality treatment options across the continuum of cancer care for resource-constrained settings, while outlining the optimal care these countries aspire to achieve.
The NCCN Harmonized Guidelines™ for Sub-Saharan Africa is joint project between the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), the African Cancer Coalition (ACC), American Cancer Society (ACS), the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), and IBM.
Federal ministries of health and leading cancer centers in Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, and Uganda endorse NCCN Harmonized Guidelines™ for Sub-Saharan Africa as national standards for treating the growing cancer burden. Together, these countries cover 43% of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The toolkit features educational materials developed in partnership with the Ministries of Health and key cancer stakeholders in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda to help patients and caregivers cope with cancer. These materials, and the process used to develop them, are presented to guide similar efforts in other countries.
Este manual procura reforçar e acelerar a tradução dos conhecimentos na luta contra o cancro em acções de saúde pública e serve também como um dos principais documentos de referência acerca do desenvolvimento de programas nacionais de controlo de cancro. É por isso destinado principalmente a líderes, gestores e pessoas que tomam decisões na área da saúde e áreas relacionadas; profissionais médicos; instituições académicas; organizações não governamentais e, de uma forma mais geral, às partes interessadas que necessitam acompanhar a prevenção e controlo do cancro.
